The crew takes a job that ends up with Two being captured by the people who created her. Faced with a well-fortified facility, the crew sends in the Android to help Two escape. After Two is safely back on the ship, Five finds that someone has disabled the Android. When they realize that only one of them could have done it, the crew members begin to turn on each other.

Quick Reviews for “Episode Twelve”

• Kris: It was nice that the Android got a couple of good scenes. They put a big emphasis on the controlling/emotionally manipulative/abusive angle. I thought to myself several times during the episode “the only way this is okay is if it ends with Two destroying this guy.” Which didn't happen.
• Stephanie: This episode made me angry. Not necessarily because of the way it was constructed, though I do think they gave us a little too much information about Two all at once. But what really made me angry was how Two was treated, especially within the context of the female characters have been treated generally on this show. But it was nice that the Android was finally brought in to save the day and that she feels like she has friends.
• Annie: I loved that the Android finally got more fight scenes and was a crucial to the rescue of Two. Loved her getting rid of RedDroid, her saying she has friends and her crawl towards the field emitter.

Quick Reviews for “Episode Thirteen”

• Annie: I thought the tension in the last scene was built up pretty well. However, this is a show that relies too much on ‘the big reveal’. And getting rid of the Android AGAIN is a no no!
• Kris: An episode full of betrayal – this is not my favorite way to end a season.
• Stephanie: I liked this episode better, though the attempts to build tension weren’t really working for me. There was A LOT of sweeping the ship, looking for people. I thought the reveals about both who wiped the crew’s memories as well as who the traitor was made sense, but I didn’t find them particularly surprising.

Notable Elements

• The device they delivered was illegal “white hole” technology. (There’s a lot of illegal technology on this show.)
• Two seems to have been developed for an ailing white guy. They establish Two ages, so maybe the goal is to be a superior, healthy body. Alex says they have already developed another prototype.
• So the Android HAS been able to kick ass all this time. Then why has she gotten shocked so much???
• “Episode Thirteen” introduces a traitor, which we initially suspect is the same person who wiped their memories but seems to turn out to be a different threat.
• Five likely wiped everyone’s memories to prevent Portia and Ryo from killing someone.
• Six turned the crew over to the Galactic Authority.

HOYAY REPORT

In which Stephanie likes to pretend that Three has a crush on One to amuse herself

• Three threw One down onto a bed. Let me say that again, Three threw One onto a bed.
• Three also invited One to take a little walk to discuss something, but Two misunderstands and Three doesn’t feel like he can correct her. Heartbreaking.
• If Two doesn’t do something about One, then Three “sure as hell will.” And then he offers to demonstrate his skillset on One. In front of everyone, Three? Who knew you were such an exhibitionist.
• But Three was generally being very assertive during this episode, literally waiting outside of One’s room in case he needed him.

• Yeah, Two wants to blow things up with you, Android. IN BED.

Stuff that Made Us Happy

• “I hate cake.”
• Nice slo-mo, badass shot of Two, Four, Six, Three, and One as they were heading to the Marauder
• The Android telling Redroid that Two is her friend, that the crew likes her, that she’s a machine with friends
• The Android helping Two while the guys were stuck twiddling their thumbs back on a ship, for a change — not that we want the guys to be useless, but the female characters have been put in that position A LOT
• Five being pissed at the idea that they were leaving Two behind at the facility, and the Two/Five hug on her return
• The Android smelling the wine
• We were once again struck by how pretty and elaborate the sets are. There was a nice, clear shot of the vault door.
• Three was upset that someone knocked out the Android! “No one messes with my robot!”
• Two giving Three the side-eye when he was trying to protect her
• Two trying to thank Three for being willing to save her from the airlock — as most scenes with Three, some elements were frustrating while others were endearing
• Six telling Five that while she has been trying to be more like them, they’ve been trying to be more like her
• “Could there be parts to this ship we’ve yet to discover?” YES. That ship is HUGE.
• Five trying to hug Redroid and tells her that they like the Android the way she is

Questions

• Why in the hell would they name Two Rebecca?
• Is that really the end of Redroid?
• Who were Portia and Ryo planning to kill? Was it Griffin Jones? Was Griffin a mole working for the Galactic Authority all along? If not, why did he join the crew of the Raza?
• Will Six allow Five to be treated like the rest of the crew once in the custody of the Galactic Authority? He promises Five that she will be fine when he leaves her room.
• Why did One have the necklace from Hrothgar’s people in “Episode One”?
• What is that “pockets of interdimensional space” card that Five had? Who wanted it enough to kill her friends?
