Johnny manipulates D'avin into leading him to a green pool, so that he can finish his transition and become Hullen. Delle Seyah finds herself captive in the organ harvesting colon, and the warden has his eye on her baby. Zeph, Pip, and Pree team up to find Lucy so that she can lead them to D'avin and Johnny's location, but will they be in time to help? Kris, Annie, and Stephanie discuss episode 4×03 of Killjoys, “Bro-d Trip.”
Reviews
- Stephanie: I thought this episode had some good stuff, but for me it didn’t gel as well as the previous two episodes. There was a lot going on in the three separate storylines, and I didn’t feel like the Johnny and D’avin and especially the Delle Seyah storyline were able to build quite enough dramatic tension. But there were elements of each storyline that I liked a lot.
- Annie: I thought this was another good episode. I am really worried about Johnny and wonder if even after he gets cleansed (hopefully?) if being nasty Hullen Johnny won’t permanently affect him. Delle Seyah continues to be so much fun to watch, even when she’s supposedly captured and out for the count. It looks like Mayko Nguyen has so much fun with that deliciously evil role. I loved seeing Lucy back, and the attempts by Team Awesome Force 2.0 to crack her authentication code. I am a bit confused by seeing Dutch suddenly emerge from the green – I thought we’d get another episode from inside the green at this point. Will we ever find out what happened between her and The Lady?
- Kris: I am upset at the minimal amounts of Dutch we’ve gotten this week and last. With that said, I still really liked this episode and there’s always so much going on that it feels like you don’t really have time to miss the characters who aren’t there. (That happens later.) I love that Johnny has manifested Dutch as the voice of his real self. I was surprised at myself for getting really anxious about Lucy’s reset. What if our Lucy never came back?! Also, pregnant Delle Seyah smashing guards with one hand on her belly was GREAT, and she had a ton of great lines. This episode has left me WORRIED, though.
Thoughts & Questions
- Great to see Zeph taking charge and leading a mission
- Pree and Pip would make terrible killjoys for realsies, but their deputizing was very entertaining
- Pree sucking his teeth disdainfully at Pip. Deserved it.
- Johnny has saved fanfiction (in addition to tiny ship makeovers and a LOT of robot porn) saved to his scifi smart phone!
- Can we get moooooore Delle Seyah, please?
- “Should my ears be burning?” “Light a match. Let’s see.”
- “Don’t villainsplain me, honey. I’m the master.”
- Would you trust Hullen Johnny to put a spike in the back of your neck??? Because we wouldn’t.
- Thank you, D'avin, for finally showing some sense with that body armor.
- Okay, so … how does The Green work? Because it seems like Dutch managed to functionally use it as a teleporter. I think it’s fairly safe to assume that Aneela can do that, too.
- Some resolution… but not much
- Dutch is out of the green, but she isn't awake. And she SHOT Johnny. Without question. Curious to hear her thoughts about that.
- Johnny is still Hullen-ish and not well mentally.
- Pip had a spooky moment with the spider, but what does that mean?
- Turin what are you plotting for that Hullen doll?
