D'avin, Johnny, and Dutch must use their Killjoy skills to obtain something they need to save Delle Seyah, D'avin, and Aneela's child. Meanwhile, on the RAC-commandeered Hullen ship, Turin gets to know his new rebooted Hullen friend Weej while they try to figure out what's happening with the other Hullen.
Quick Reviews
- Stephanie: I enjoyed watching this episode, but I also feel a little confused by it in the aftermath. Particularly, I was confused by the choice to have Delle Seyah and D'avin separated from their kid for the entire episode. (And I'm calling him Their Kid because he has yet to be named, which is also a bit confusing to me.) Episode 4 concluded or at least put a button on several story threads that had been set up by the first three episodes, so this episode introduced some new plotlines that likely will be explored more in upcoming episodes. So this episode got stuff moving, but it didn't move the storyline much. It was a lot of small bits of story woven together.
- Annie: I enjoyed this episode. After the craziness of Dutch being in The Green and Johnny being Hullen, it was nice to see Team Awesome Force working together again like the old days. I loved that we got to see Utopia again, as well as the humorous moments of the episode – D’avin getting into a fight jacked up on stims and Lucy almost gets an AI boyfriend with Kravn. I also enjoyed the quieter moments like the discussion between Johnny and Delle Seyah. There’s a lot of plot threads going on and a still a lot of unanswered questions – what is the code in Khlyen’s story? And what’s going to happen with Gared and the kids?
- Kris: I liked a lot of stuff in this episode, but I didn’t love the episode itself. There was a lot (too much?) going on. And, honestly, I just don’t think it could live up to the previous episode. It’s interesting, though not really surprising, that they went with the accelerated-growth-baby/child trope. Our core group going on a mission feels almost out of place at this point in the story, but it was fun so I’ll allow it. As always, I am ALL ABOUT the characters’ interactions and relationships. (I kept expecting Pree to show up to save Gared but it hasn’t happened yet!!)
Thoughts & Questions
- Growing kid
- Fun stuff: high D'avin, the fantasy version of their heist, & Johnny, Lucy, and German AI
- Turin and his Hullen buddy: what's going on there?
- Gared, Fancy & The kidnapped kids: Dutch assumed they were looking for The Kid, but what if the kidnappings are related to something else? It's kinda fun to have the fabulous makeup wearing partner of the brutish, muscly dude intending to go save his man. (Will they FINALLY kiss when they're reunited?)
