Dutch is determined to uncover more about the mysterious Aneela, which leads her, D'avin, and Alvis back to Arkyn where they discover a surprising survivor. Johnny and Pawter investigate the purpose of the wall around Old Town, which they suspect will be used to cull the weaker citizens from the population.

• Stephanie: While one element really, really irritated me, I liked lots of things about this episode, and I thought all three of our leads put in great performances. I loved the dynamic between Dutch, D’avin, and Hunky Monk, and as always it was fun to see Johnny and Pawter collaborating.
• Kris: I liked this episode quite a bit! If I may be shallow for a moment, Dutch looked GREAT this episode. Both of the major plotlines this episode were essentially trying to solve mysteries, which I enjoy. The reveals fell a little flat for me, but I’m glad we finally got them. This episode really feels like they’re ramping up to the finale, and I’m excited for it!
• Annie: This was an intense episode for me! I was really sad to see Dutch suspending her partnership with Johnny. I'm nervous about what’s going to happen to Johnny and Pawter now that they’ve been ‘pacified’ by the wall. Jelco continues to be an a-hole that has me throwing things at my screen. And we got a stellar performance by Hannah John-Kamen as she continues to struggle with having to perform a mercy kill and discovering more about the mystery of Aneela.

Stuff Happened

• Dutch confronts imprisoned Johnny, walks away, then calls Pawter in to help
• Pawter frees Johnny, then they try to figure out the Company’s plan (and encounter Carl along the way)
• Dutch and D’avin keep following Khlyen’s trail of breadcrumbs — going back to the monastery to talk to Olan, then to Arkyn, where they find another giant chrome box that leads to an abandoned facility containing one of the 12 monks who went to fight the devil (who is Aneela/Double Dutch).
• The old monk reveals that Aneela called Khlyen “father,” surprising no one but Dutch
• Jelco frames Pawter and Johnny for Arune’s murder
• The wall kills fear and triggers euphoria, acting as a pacifier. The only upside of which is that Pree is singing.

Things Made Us Happy

• “You’re my thing, Johnny.”
• “His eyeballs, Dutch. One minute they were in my head, the next my mouth. Did not taste like chicken.”
• A scene with Dutch and naked D’avin and no sexual tension at all!
• Pawter in her gold-scale-arm dress — continuing the trend of warrior-inspired wear? — really telling off Jelco!
• “You know, monk me up a bit.” Nice to see Alvis and D’avin working together to work on D’avin’s control over the green goo instead of having antagonistic/jealous tension between them.
• “Did you … touch him in his eyeballs?”
• Carl returns, and he’s moved up to being a contraband dealer! Except rat meat – ew!
• “Alright, boys. Enough flirting.” Stephanie had to subsist on the HoYay between D’avin and Hunky Monk since Delle Seyah’s only scene wasn’t with Dutch! Sadness!
• Pree looking shiny and happy and singing! Next season: a Dutch/Pree duet!
• “Surgeon’s hands. Steady as a rock.”
• Shamier Anderson making a cameo as Arune
• Aaron Ashmore’s performance in the final scene with Jelco: his real emotions seem to be fighting through the falsely complacent façade
• “He gets to decide how much pain is too much. Not us.” Compassion and self-determination continue to be of utmost importance to our Killjoys.
• Pantless Johnny!

• “You make me so happy I could die.” … did Pawter just set something in motion? (Please don’t kill anybody, Lovretta!)
• Again, what is the relationship between Dutch and Double Dutch? Is Dutch a clone? (They mentioned the C word in this episode!) A descendent? We’re confused and want to know too, Dutch!
