The investigation into the bombing at GRIT resurrects some old problems for Art, who receives a visit from a determined RCMP officer asking about the Katja Obinger case. Cosima learns more about what was going on at GRIT, while Charlotte and Alison head to the United States to inoculate a sick Leda clone.
Kris and Stephanie discuss episode 1×03 of Orphan Black: The Next Chapter, “Dogged in Denial.”
Title Reference
“I’m still learning how dogged people can be in denial, even when their freedom or their lives are at stake.”
― Octavia E. Butler, Parable of the Sower
Cosima & Sturgis
- Sturgis is alive! Knew he would be as soon as there was a reference to not finding his body.
- “How are we supposed to set up a meeting on an insecure line? You literally just said both our full names.”
- Information about the TAG project
“Imagine you found a way to customize phages to any bacteria sample.”
“You'd make antibiotics obsolete.”
“But now imagine that the same technology could apply not just to phages, but any virus, which you could target to any genetic marker.”
Delphine
- Feels alienated at the impressive career opportunity for which Cosima envies her
- Eloise Thibault: how much should we/Delphine trust her?
Charlotte & Alison
- Charlotte is hilarious. “I'm not married to Delphine. Her wrath doesn't frighten me.”
- Like Sturgiss, Alison is also not very good at being sneaky, but calling Vivi her sister and claiming she stole something was pretty good quick thinking.
- Mouth swabs at airports are getting more speculative fiction. Rapid DNA testing exists and can provide a DNA profile within two hours, but it seemed like they were screening EVERYONE in the airport. That's a lot of resources.
Vivi Valdez
- Not the cause of the explosion at GRIT
- Decides to tell Arun that she has observed three other people who look exactly like her
- Can Arun be trusted? He says the CIA also was not responsible for the explosion at GRIT.
Art & Jaysara Priyantha
- Stephanie likes Jay. She follows the rules, and she takes off a glove before she touches her phone.
- KATJA OBINGER. OH NO.
- Art as Charlotte’s (justifiably) overprotective dad!
Kira
- Secretly starting an internship at GeneKeep
- Organization that documents genomes; particularly small, more isolated communities
- Kira sees GeneKeep as an opportunity to do some investigating into her own genome
- Was Kira FLIRTING with Em? *eyebrow waggle*
