We thought it was only appropriate to talk about our favorite sex scenes from Lost Girl in our sixty-ninth episode. Stephanie tries not to be too analytical, while Annie is finally in her element, as we get a little more pervy than usual. The scenes are discussed in chronological order, rather than by preference.
Bo & Dyson in “Where There’s a Will, There’s a Fae”
- Stephanie: I was recently reminded how nice this first sexy scene between Bo and Dyson is. Bo cracks jokes to hide her uneasiness, but we see that she’s very concerned about hurting Dyson. Dyson’s seriousness is perfect in response to Bo’s nerves. And of course, it’s very sensual, and a great song is playing over the sequence.
- Music: “Trophy” by Bat for Lashes
Bo, Samir & Olivia in “Faetal Attraction”
- Stephanie: I think this might be my favorite sex scene of the entire series thus far. It set a great tone for how sexuality would be handled on the show, it’s edited well, the music is well-used, and it’s sexy! Also, bonus points for Kenzi’s hilarious reaction to the commotion going on above her head.
- Kris: HOW OFTEN DO YOU SEE A SCENE LIKE THIS (WHERE IT ISN’T GROSS)??? Yes, that’s pretty much why I like it.
- Music: “Boys Wanna Be Her” by Peaches
Bo & Dyson (in The Dal) in “Dead Lucky”
- Stephanie: I'm kind of whatever about the kissy, jumpy, undressy stuff between Bo and Dyson, but it makes my list because of Kenzi and Hale making awkward small talk at the bar with the ridiculously loud thumps in the background and Trick asking if his troll got out.
- Kris: I'm all for a comedic element to complement a sexy scene.
Bo & Dyson in “Vexed”
- Stephanie: What can I say? This scene is hot. I remember being wide-eyed at the shot of Dyson taking off Bo’s underwear, and I find it pretty darn hot when Bo pulls Dyson toward her by the waist of his jeans.
- Kris: This scene is just so fraught. Excellent for those who crave a little angst with their sexytimes.
- Music: “Sour Cherry” by The Kills
Bo & Lauren in “Vexed”
- Stephanie: I find even more to appreciate about this scene when comparing it to Bo & Dyson’s earlier encounter. We see Bo use Dyson for healing and then her lash out at Lauren for not revealing all of her motives for sleeping with Bo until after the fact. The lighting is beautiful, and I think the acting is really top-notch.
- Annie: I wonder if I can say that the acting is top-notch even when they’re kissing and rolling around in bed? Seriously, filming sex scenes is the most awkward thing in the world for actors! It’s tough!
- Kris: I know we’re supposed to be perving, but I would still like to point out how nice it is that Bo pulls Lauren’s necklace off and says “nobody owns you,” especially given the possessive language that seems to be pretty common in love scenes.
- Music: “Madman” by Clara Klein
(Dream) Bo & Dyson in “Scream a Little Dream”
- Stephanie: I'm a sucker for this scene because of the song choice. But it’s a really sexy scene…until it ends all scary and horrible.
- Kris: I agree: super sexy. All the better to fake us out with.
- Music: “Villain” by The Duke Spirit
Bo & Lauren in “It’s Better to Burn Out than Fae Away”
- Stephanie: While it was appropriate for Bo and Lauren’s first encounter to be more tender, I was glad to see them be more aggressive in this scene, and the frenetic editing also adds to the sense of urgency. Also, Bo kisses Lauren on the cheek. Awwww!
- Annie: Bo grabs Lauren by her thighs! Her thighs!! *dies* And the kiss makes my heart melt every time. Also, Bo’s happy bounding down the stairs to greet Kenzi in the post I-totally-had-great-sex kinda way!
- Kris: I agree that Bo pulling Lauren to her by the thighs is pretty darn sexy.
- Trivia! Zoie Palmer mentioned in a panel that she did, in fact, kick Anna Silk while she was trying to pull off those very tight jeans.
- Music: “Lose It” by Austra
Bo & Ryan in “Midnight Lamp”
- Stephanie: OK, so this episode isn't the greatest, but the sexy scenes between Bo and Ryan stand out to me for one main reason: I actually am not horribly embarrassed by the pillow talk. It actually makes me laugh. Anna Silk and Anthony Lemke have good chemistry, and they manage to make that silly dialogue work.
- Music: “Sirens” by The pack a.d.
Bo & Lauren in “SubterrFaenean”
- Kris: It’s the first time Bo and Lauren are having sexytimes while in a full-fledged relationship. I like how things are all romantic and sexy, and Lauren can’t stop being too smart for her own good — but it doesn’t ruin the mood! At all.
- Annie: I want outtakes from this scene so badly! How many times did Zoie trip over all of Lauren’s science-y words? Who else would have such intricate pillow talk? No one but Lauren Lewis – and it’s perfect.
- Music: “Around the Sun” by 8mm
Bo & Lauren in “Fae-de to Black”
- Stephanie: I remember my eyes practically popping out of my head when I saw this scene originally. I was both surprised and pleased that Lost Girl was moving beyond the passionate kissing and characters sliding off screen that usually characterizes love scenes between two women.
- Kris: I was (and still am) amazed that Syfy didn’t edit this scene at all. Admittedly, after watching things like Defiance since, it’s less surprising. There’s some nice shot composition, too!
- Annie: Like Kris, I'm still amazed that this scene made it onto both Showcase and SyFy. Besides all the sexy times, it is a beautifully shot and edited scene.
- Trivia! Zoie Palmer mentioned in a panel that Bo and Lauren’s positioning on the bed shifts from 12 o’clock to 3 o’clock to convey the passage of a long period of time. Anna mentioned in an interview that it was the easiest sex scene she has ever filmed.
- Music: “Keep Me High” by Adaline
Lauren & Crystal in “Lovers. Apart.”
- Stephanie: Once again, Lauren goes from zero to sexytimes in 6 seconds flat with someone, and it doesn’t turn out too great for her. But it’s still fun to watch. Crystal’s knee sliding up the bed, Lauren’s hands going…places. Sure, it’s a bit fumbly, but it has an authenticity and rawness to it that I enjoy. Plus, they’re so cute afterward! And Lauren looks so happy!
- Kris: Well, Crystal saved Lauren some time by partially undressing ahead of time. That sex scene was serious business! But then Lauren is all funny and charming and Crystal is all giggly and cuddly afterward! I like it! (you might have heard)
- Annie: I admit, I still watch this scene while peeking through my fingers. (Which is better than outright screaming at the screen the first time I watched it!) The song has really grown on me though.
- Trivia! It was apparently very hot in Crystal’s apartment set, so thanks to Zoie and Ali Liebert for being troopers.
- Music: “I Want You” by Lindi Ortega
Hale & Kenzi in “Groundhog Fae”
- Stephanie: I'm not entirely sure if this one counts as a sex scene, but Kenzi and Hale’s precursor to sexytimes is incredibly entertaining to watch. The fireproof, fat-free, and fig-flavored condoms (yay! condoms!), Hale’s attempts to be a smooth operator, and sexy kisses make for a great combination.
- Kris: [requisite appreciative comment about Hale’s/K.C.’s abs]
Lauren's Mysteriously Appearing Shirt
- Stephanie remembers when first watching “It's Better to Burn Out Than Fae Away” being puzzled by the fact that Lauren seemed to be wearing a purple undershirt or something suddenly after the undressing sequence, and she wondered if that was a continuity error.
- A recent post on Tumblr (which she would love to credit except she couldn't find it again) illuminated the matter. The purple piece of clothing is actually Lauren's bra, and it's not a continuity error at all.
- When Bo undresses Lauren, she basically folds down Lauren's top two layers, that is her bra and tank top.
- The purple piece of clothing we see subsequently is Lauren's bra, which is now inside out and upside down, having been folded down over Lauren's tank top.
- So no continuity error! It fits exactly with what we see Bo do to her clothes earlier.
