Mrs. S coordinates efforts to untangle the mystery of Neolution, including pulling off a con with Sarah in order to question an inside source. Meanwhile on Neolution Island, Susan Duncan is alive, healing, and conspiring with Westmoreland, and Cosima investigates the mysterious man/creature in the woods outside Revival.
Stephanie and Kris discuss the fourth episode of season five of Orphan Black, “Let the Children & the Childbearers Toil.”
Mrs. S & Sarah: International Bad Asses (with Good Hair)
- Seeing Mrs. S and Sarah work together was amazing! Sarah comes by her scamming abilities (paradoxically) honestly. The family that cons together, stays together!
- “Your daughter is struggling on the threshold of what it means to become you.”
- Sarah calls out Mrs. S for being secretive, and S says she “hardly ever does this.” What “this” are you referring to Siobhan? You’re secretive ALL THE TIME.
- Delphine led Mrs. S to Virginia Coady, who was drugged and hidden in a hospital under the name Alex Ripley (Alien reference?) by Susan Duncan.
- Sarah and Mrs. S do not succeed at freeing Virginia, but she steals a visitor’s pass from Sarah. When will Dr. Coady turn up again?
Cosima & the Creature
- Because she’s a Leda, Charlotte foolishly goes deeper into the woods than she reasonably should have and finds the creature’s tooth.
- Mud appears to be protecting or at least helping the creature. Other villagers seem determined to kill him.
- Because she’s a Leda, Cosima follows Mud to P.T. Westmoreland’s house and finds evidence of horrible treatment of a test subject.
- The creature seems to have escaped Westmoreland’s house, where he was cruelly experimented on by Westmoreland, Susan Duncan, and Virginia Coady.
- What made his genome of interest to the scientists? Presumably he showed unique healing factors? They seemed to have cut him.
- What is it that they did to him? They said whatever it was caused tumors, brain damage, and physical deformities.
- More Island of Dr. Moreau references
S.D. & P.T.
- Hell-wizard and Scott have done research into the historical P.T. Westmoreland, who vanished in Borneo in 1894 and was presumed dead in 1898.
- Mud seems to have a special relationship with P.T. She helped him with some kind of IV treatment, and she has special but secret access to the house.
- Susan chastises P.T. for being too ruthless, but she agrees to work with him.
- Susan tells Ira that she is trying to “protect them all.”
- P stands for Percival, apparently!
Sarah, Kira & Helena
- The mouse is OK, everybody! But maybe Kira isn’t doing the best.
- Kira’s frustration felt very relatable. She struggles with what it means to be different and special, and she wants to understand who she is and to be her own person.
- Kira tells Felix that she likes that Rachel tells her why she is special. Felix reminds her that Rachel cannot be trusted, but Kira seems skeptical.
- Sarah visits Helena! She confesses that what really scares her about Kira seeing Rachel is that she finally felt the connection Kira and Helena have talked about, and she doesn’t want Rachel to have it.
- Vulnerable Sarah scenes always shine. She and Helena felt like real peers in that scene, rather than the monster and her keeper.
- “I wasn’t a good sister to you.” “Yes. We tried to kill each other.”
Felix & Adele
- Uncle Felix
- Mrs. S told Adele! S was probably biding her time, checking into Adele’s background to see if she would be trustworthy and maybe even useful.
- Adele adds a nice burst of uncomplicated energy to the scene.
- Heading to Switzerland to follow the money because Hell-wizard and Scott found six subsidiaries of Neolution in Switzerland
Random Thoughts
- Felix agrees with Kris: he thinks Mr. Mitchell is scrumptious too.
- Sarah and Mrs. S found Dr. Elizabeth Perkins in Lost Girl’s Valhalla, a.k.a. The Royal York Hotel in Toronto.
- “Give Helena my love”
- So much mother stuff! And family stuff!
