Lucy interrogates Jules, the young woman who looks like the person she sees in her nightmares, to figure out how much she knows about their origins. Kira receives a surprise visitor who came to check up on her after she called Cosima with some concerns. The suits following Lucy ask their boss for permission to use deadly force against Lucy.
Episode Title Reference
- Possible namesake for Jules the character could be Jules Verne, the 19th century French writer who is sometimes called a Father of Science Fiction
Lucy & Jules
- Lucy is not a great kidnapper.
- Why does Jules not have a luminescent tag the way that Lucy does? Is it just located somewhere else on her body?
- Jules is similarly resourceful as Lucy is, using part of the toilet as a weapon.
- Lucy, you shouldn't pull objects out of a wound like that! Also, we hope they sufficiently disinfected before suturing and have Lucy on some antibiotics!!
- Why does Jules just go home after being kidnapped?
- Jules's adoptive father is kinda awful, but her brother Wes is cute.
- Jules's adoptive mother works for a company called Currentsy, owned by Darros Logistics, which connects her to the Printout Experiment. Is Neva aware of Jules's origins?
- The body scanner recognizing Lucy as Jules seems to suggest that they are printouts of the same person. How does that body scanner work exactly?
- Is the similar scar a result of the Printout Procedure?
Darros & the Suits
- Darros is the connection between Kira and the suits. How did they meet? Why are they working on the printouts together?
- What is Darros's stake in the experiment? Darros is concerned about conservation, which Tom the suit implies is a more recent interest.
- The suits are keeping an eye on Jules, helping to deceive her about her past.
- The suits clearly work for Darros, not Kira. They are willing to withhold information from her.
- Emily thanks Mr. Darros for having done so much for her personally.
- Kris looked up the name Darros, just because. All of the first results were for something called Fire Emblem, but there’s also a D’arros Island that was bought by the Save Our Seas foundation in 2012 and designated a nature preserve in 2014. Why do I bring this up, you ask? One of the things they study there is turtles! Like we saw in this episode.
Kira & Felix
- Stephanie was not expecting to see a character from the original series this quickly.
- Great to see Felix/Jordan Gavaris! The aging makeup was pretty good, and Jordan did well at sounding like an older Felix.
- Kira and Sarah still have a complicated relationship, which is sad but not surprising to hear.
- Kira has a son named Lucas, but there's been no reference to Kira's partner yet.
- Lucas is played by Jaeden Noel, whom scifi fans might know from Killjoys and The Expanse! Could Lucas be the baby in the photo?
- Kira does not seem to have shared about the printouts with her family.
- She asks Felix what if her experiences as a child didn't make her better but rather selfish, which again suggests that there is something personal at stake for Kira in this experiment.
- What should we make of the dead rat? Is it implying something ominous regarding Lucy and Jules?
- Kira makes a few secretive calls to someone named Josh. Who is he?
Jack & Charlie
- Stephanie doesn't trust Tina.
- Jack had a very sweet reaction to Lucy telling him the truth.
- Lucy and now Jack have both made promises to Charlie that she won't have to shoot someone (or go through something like that) again. Why does it seem like they might not be able to keep those promises?
Lingering Questions/Wild Speculation
- There was a lingering shot of the Darros logo. What do we think it means?
- Lucy breaks into Currentsy and gets a new lead, Beacon Bayview Medical, perhaps where Jules was treated after her “accident”?
- Kris thinks our suspicions of grief are reinforced in this episode. Who did Kira (and probably also Lucas) lose?
- Is there a significance to the scar that Lucy and Jules share? Could it be a physical version of the clone tag? And, if so, what’s the UV tattoo that Lucy has?? Or is it something from the source person that is part of the scans?
- Who was the Josh whom Kira was on the phone with, asking about violent behavior?
References to the Original Series
