We share our first impressions of the second season premiere of Orphan Black, “Nature Under Constraint and Vexed.” Stephanie tries to keep an overly-excited Kris on topic.

In the premiere, Sarah is on the run and pursued by relentless adversaries. Kira is missing, and Sarah suspects that Rachel is responsible for her daughter’s disappearance so she plots a showdown. Meanwhile, Delphine tells Cosima to consider Leekie’s job offer, and Alison tries to move on with her life.

Sarah

• Diner – we KNEW they weren’t Dyad folks! (egg exchange), clone phones disconnected
• Eluding Dyad – meeting on the bridge, setting Alison up to be a patsy, pretending to be Cosima
• Art & Angie – starting to tell the truth, seems to be fessing up to Art at the end, what will Art do with Sarah’s trust & information?

Rachel

• Cat & mouse game with Sarah
• Confrontation with Sarah – seems to try to connect with Sarah on a “we’re both clones” level, is it genuine?
• Interaction with Leekie – she seems to outrank him in the organization
• Meeting with Korean scientists – mentioned Supreme Court case about natural vs. synthetic DNA
• Toying with Paul

Paul

• Deep in the organization but still seemingly allied with Sarah
• Daniel says that he basically wants to kill him – what’s stopping Daniel? Kris points out that Rachel mentions his knowledge of Sarah makes him valuable.

Alison

• Buying the gun – Ramon might be the new Raj for Stephanie but he better not be the new Colin, “So how’s your mother?” sending the gun in flowers
• Musical – feels like a time difference in this storyline, rehearsing all last season apparently, director’s line about the accidental murder, “Let’s wipe, wipe, wipe away the plasma”
• Briefly see Donnie (IN BRIEFS!)
• Attack — she held her own! How did the pepper spray not work?

Cosima & Delphine

• Sexytimes
• “I smell lesbians in my bed last night.” “I will not apologize for my heart.” So does Cosima identify as a lesbian?
• Delphine’s scene with Leekie – tells about Cosima’s respiratory illness (“She’s showing symptoms like the other two”) even though she told Cosima she wouldn’t; Leekie calls her a “eugenicist”; “I’m invested, just like you wanted.” — a little hostile
• Delphine is open about her relationship with Cosima at the Dyad event
• Cosima coughs in the kitchen during the gun+flowers scene. Fandom weeps.

HELENA!!!

• She’s alive! But for how long?
