As VicMu’s “glamour girl,” Vera’s terrible accident at the beginning of the series really challenges her sense of self-worth. We discuss how Vera copes with that trauma, both as she recovers in the hospital and after she returns to work, as well as her knack for being an office worker and her relationship with Marco.

- Finds some healing in soldiers finding her attractive and giving them a fun time while they’re in town
- The first time Vera brought home a soldier Stephanie wasn’t sure how Vera was going to react to the soldier giving her silk stockings, but she really embraces the gift aspect of it
- “Those gifts. They’re like love letters. They help me remember nights when someone made me feel beautiful. I’m not ashamed of any of it.”

Relationship with Marco
- Kind of flirty in the first episode, leads to her accident which cools off their relationship for a while
- Marco comforts her when Carol tells the whole factory she is a patriot-ute
- Marco sends her a dress (that she thinks is from Quincy) which is when she decides she doesn’t need the patriot-ute thing anymore
- Gives her cannoli in the hospital, share Marco’s lunch on the roof, making wine with his friends
- Marco pushes her away when he’s getting frustrated with being persecuted for being Italian, we like that she stands up to him & doesn’t take his crap for long
