Johnny, D’avin, and Delle Seyah have made it to a planet, but they have to figure out where they are and how to get home. As always, trouble finds them, and drastic actions have to be taken to save Johnny’s life.cKris, Annie, and Stephanie discuss episode 4×02 of Killjoys, “Johnny Dangerously.”
Quick Reviews
- Kris: This episode was a ROLLERCOASTER OF EMOTION. (And I’m here for it.) I’m glad we got to find out what the Jaqobis brothers and Delle Seyah have been up to — that flashback to their time on the elevator was amazing, as was Delle Seyah’s realization that they’re really a family. I am worried about Johnny. A lot. But I like super-responsible D’avin. I like him and I feel bad for him. Also, YAY ZEPHYR!!!
- Stephanie: It was great to see the regular gang this week (with the exception of only a tiny but VERY EMOTIONAL appearance from Dutch), though this episode felt more like set-up for the season, since the premiere was spent mostly in flashback. We got more information of the aftermath of the Hullen attack on the RAQ. We got to see the evolving dynamics between D'avin, Delle Seyah, and Johnny — the flashback montage of how they passed time in the elevator was the best 30 seconds of the episode. And obviously this turn with Johnny being Hullenized is…upsetting. I'm annoyed (not really) that we didn't get an update on Dutch, but I'm kinda glad that this episode introduced a lot of little threads that can be addressed in the future.
- Annie: I really enjoyed this episode – a nice way to jump back into the action with the rest of Team Awesome Force and the space Scooby gang. I love the dynamic between the Jaqobis brothers and Delle Seyah, alternating in between hostile, to being reluctant partners to downright hilarious awkwardness. Same goes for Zeph being such a spectacularly awesome, smartest-nerd-ever! I am really worried about Johnny and how he’ll get cleansed. Aaron Ashmore was particularly excellent this ep with his classic Johnny snark, mixed with suddenly homicidal Hullen tendencies. I can’t wait to see where everyone ends up next week. More brotherly fights and shoot-y bits!
Thoughts & Questions
- Johnny is now connected to the green. What bearing will this have on what we learned last episode — that he’s the key to saving them all?
- Did Delle Seyah call Dutch Johnny and D'avin's girlfriend? I got a little confused in her family tree. And, yes, gods, they ARE a family.
- Pip was clearly infected with the Hullen spider thing, right? How's that going to play out?
- Turn in dynamics between D'avin and Johnny
