A friend asks Johnny to take on a warrant to bring her husband back to Westerley. Feeling insecure about his place on the team because of D'avin's higher killjoy level, Johnny takes unusual risks in pursuing the warrant. Meanwhile, D'avin needs to pass a psych evaluation to become a killjoy, so he tries to befriend the local doctor.
Quick Reviews
- Kris: I liked it! Johnny got a bit more focus in this episode, Dutch kicked some ass, and D'avin is getting some help. We also got a great heart-to-heart with Dutch and Johnny, and I'm a sucker for that kind of thing.
- Stephanie: A bit of a darker episode this week, but I liked it. Besides the bigger focus on Johnny, I also really enjoyed the introduction of Pawter.
- Annie: I enjoyed it. I loved seeing Johnny and Dutch go undercover, D’avin trying to integrate into the team and especially the Dutch/Johnny heart to heart.
Notable Elements
- Introduction of Pawter
- A bit more world-building: (wealthy) people who got kicked off Qresh got plots of land on Leith. And Leithians look down on Westerlyns.
- Westerley is really at the bottom of the ladder. Pawter has to scheme for basic medical supplies.
- The “partner-boss” conversation seems to have at least partially sewn the seeds of conflict between Dutch and Johnny here.
- So many Lost Girl guest stars! (Martell, Pawter, Vincent, Shyla)
Stuff that Made Us Happy
- “I have a headache, a badge, and a gun. BEHAVE.” Dutch continues to be awesome.
- “I can buy you dinner. Oh, look at my manly muscles. Please sign my psych form.” Pawter is kind of awesome.
- D'avin agreed to get treatment!
- No'a is no fool! (Dutch likes her.) And Vincent gets what he deserves.
- New nickname for Johnny: Brave and Dumb
- Sibling dynamics between both D'avin and Johnny and between Johnny and Dutch
- “I don't have time for this!” Dutch is annoyed Martell's guards attacked her.
- “Did we finish? Was I good?”
- “You’re irreplacable to me.” Awwwww! And Johnny teared up.
Questions
- Did Martell know about the jakk grow-op? Was he getting a cut of the profits?
- Why did Khlyen want that guy dead? Was it mostly about testing Dutch? It's not as “finished” as Dutch told Johnny it is, right?
- When will Dutch hear from Khlyen again? Surely now that he has found her, he won't just disappear.
- Why was D'avin so weird about Pawter trying to examine his eyes?
- Why was Pawter kicked off Qresh?
