Even though he’s her younger brother, Felix is perhaps the most reliable person in Sarah’s life as her confidant, safety net, and partner in crime, and that relationship becomes even more important when Sarah finds out she’s a clone. Kris and Stephanie talk about Felix’s importance to Sarah, the other clones, and pop culture.
Felix as anti-hero
- Involved with drugs and drug dealers
- Is a “rent boy”
- Condones, and assists in, Sarah’s con
- Sarah’s influence?
Felix as “the stable one”
- The one person above suspicion as a monitor
- Felix’s loft is the show’s “safe space” – Sarah, Alison, and Cosima all seek sanctuary there at some point
- Has likely been a more stable presence in Kira’s life than Sarah has
- Cleans up Sarah’s messes
- “Is every man in your life a complete wanker except for me?” (Pretty much.)
Felix’s relationships with the clones
- Alison is initially uncomfortable with Felix
- Forms a friendship with Alison – it seems unlikely but makes complete sense
- Initially doesn’t trust them, but pretty quickly starts treating them like sisters
- He even seems protective toward Cosima when Delphine shows up at his loft in 1.10.
- Seems to adapt to the clone situation fairly easily
Felix as a queer character
- Initially seems like he might be the “gay best friend” character, but gets significant character development
- Has significant relationships/interactions with several characters, not just Sarah
- Isn’t desexualized – he even has a love interest
- Theatrical affectations: the makeup, the posture
- Could have been a stereotype, but is a well-rounded, fleshed out character
