A toxic rain storm forces John and Pawter to take shelter with criminals. When the situation begins to escalate, Johnny’s tendency to play peacemaker is stretched to its limits. Through Johnny’s urging to work through their awkwardness, Dutch and D’avin take on a warrant together and end up trapped on Lucy because of the storm.

The continuing quest to uncover the mystery behind D’avin’s missing memories leads the team to an underground black market. Meanwhile, Johnny tries to retrieve data about Khlyen from the neural link, and D’avin and Dutch bond over the similarities about their pasts.

Dutch, D’avin, and Johnny compete against other killjoys for a black warrant, and their mark happens to be another killjoy. Directed by Khlyen, Dutch goes behind her team’s back to try to get to the mark first and recover a dangerous weapon that he stole from the Company.

An easy salvage job turns deadly as the Killjoys are forced into a standoff with their deadliest enemy yet: their own secrets.

Dutch and the team are recruited by one of The Nine, the families who own the Company and the Quad. They are sent to find a surrogate carrying the heir to one of the families, who is living in a fertility clinic that reminds Dutch of her past. Johnny confronts D’avin about the doctor he is trying to find, who seems to have disappeared.

A friend asks Johnny to take on a warrant to bring her husband back to Westerley. Feeling insecure about his place on the team because of D’avin’s higher killjoy level, Johnny takes unusual risks in pursuing the warrant. Meanwhile, D’avin needs to pass a psych evaluation to become a killjoy, so he tries to befriend the local doctor.

In debt to the RAC after her trade for D’avin’s warrant, Dutch is assigned a hostage exchange in Sugar Point, an area of Westerley dominated by scavengers and war lords. When Lucy is shot down by scavengers, Dutch must team up with D’avin to complete the mission while Johnny hurries to repair the ship before the power for the defense shields runs out.
